Aspects of the Chinese Regional Culture in the City Visual Image Design (Based on the Logos of the Shandong Province Cities)
    (2024) Skliarenko, Nataliia
The purpose of the study is to identify aspects of regional culture in the formation of the design of the visual image of the city based on the logos of the cities of Shandong Province. Methodology. The research approach is interdisciplinary, which serves as the basis of the study and helps us to analyze the city logo more comprehensively. The semantic analysis method is used to reveal the deeper meaning of city logos and elaborate the narrative strategy, which can focus on the overall content of the city and reflect the city's identity. The method of art criticism allows us to evaluate the visual characteristics and design elements of city logos in order to refine visual elements that correspond to the essence of their image. The article analyses the logo image cases of 12 cities in Shandong Province, which are different in terms of development scale and regional environment, and can effectively demonstrate regional characteristics of Shandong Province and reflect its cultural diversity. Results. The article presents aspects of regional culture as a basis for city visual image design of Shandong Province, which play an important role in creating the city's logo image. The following regional features are highlighted – traditional symbols, historical architecture and natural environment, which define the concept of the city's cultural development. The combination of text and graphic elements and appropriate colours ensures that the cultural connotations of the region are integrated into the creation of the city logo. The attention to the regional aspects helps to improve the overall image of the city and strengthen the brand influence of the city, thus realising the sustainable development of the city and showing the direction for the future development of the city. Scientific novelty. The article reveals the role of regional culture in designing a city's visual identity, specifically through the lens of a city logo image, for the first time. In general, Regional culture emphasises uniqueness of the city's identity, which is often based on local city history, culture and social customs, and subject to the constraints of time and space, which has a dynamic character, and becomes a positive force for the development of the city and reflects its connotative characteristics through the design way. This has resulted in a more visually appealing logo image that incorporates regional cultural characteristics into the design of the city's visual image. Practical significance. The analysis of visual forms embodied on the basis of the regional characteristics of the cities of Shandong Province can help practicing designers in developing the visual identity of the city environment. Traditional symbols, historic architecture and the natural environment provide new research ideas for restoring a harmonious image of the city that combines regional cultural characteristics and artistic expressions. The city logo is updated over time, and this idea can be widely used in a variety of design practices. The research is important for the development of the methodology for designing the visual image of the city. It has been proved that the exploration of regional culture in city logo design can enhance the value, competitiveness and development level of the city

Compositional features of visual elements in the design of museum application interfaces in China
    (2025) Skliarenko, Nataliia
Purpose. The aim of the study is to identify the compositional features of the visual organisation of museum application interface elements in China. The identification of their aesthetic characteristics will provide a theoretical basis for future interface optimization. Methodology. This study employs systematic analysis, artistic analysis, and compositional analysis to conduct a multidimensional analysis of interface design. Systematic analysis focuses on the structural and functional relationships between various visual elements; artistic analysis explores the role of images, fonts, and colours in visual expression; and compositional analysis focuses on the impact of layout, visual hierarchy, and dynamic effects on user perception and interface experience. Results. This study systematically analyses the visual elements and compositional characteristics of the interface design of museum applications in China. The study finds that most interface designs integrate aesthetics, functionality, emotionality, and traditional Chinese cultural connotations into a compositional paradigm that conveys cultural arts and national aesthetics to users. This study focuses on four core visual elements: layout (emphasizes clear information hierarchy and spatial order); font design (highlights traditional art and readability); colour coordination (reflects traditional colours and modern vitality; icon design (prioritizes functional orientation and cultural symbol expression). Additionally, the integration of visual elements with animation effects enhances the interface’s interactivity and engagement, creating a dynamic visual experience that combines visual appeal with cultural immersion. The overall design embodies modularity, adaptability, and immersion, establishing a path for the deep integration of traditional cultural aesthetics with contemporary design expression. Scientific novelty. This study is the first to adopt a compositional analysis perspective, systematically integrating visual elements and aesthetic characteristics in interface design to explore their role in enhancing visual communication and cultural expression. Practice has proven that visual elements not only convey national culture and regional characteristics but also serve as important vehicles for cultural narrative and emotional resonance. Creating interface designs that combine cultural significance, aesthetic appeal, and interactivity can optimize user experience, enhance the overall brand image of museums, strengthen users’ cultural identity and national pride, and drive the future development of museum interface designs. Practical relevance. This study provides innovative ideas for optimizing the visual aesthetics of interface design. Designers and scholars can utilize the results of this research to develop more reasonable design strategies to adapt to changing user needs and technological developments, and to enhance the user experience and cultural communication effects of museum applications.

Features of colour visual image formation in the urban space of Shandong Province with consideration of regional aspects
    (2025) Skliarenko, Nataliia
Purpose. The purpose of this study is to examine the role of colour in the visual image design of cities in Shandong Province based on the analysis of regional characteristics. Methodology. The study is based on the analysis of collected representative graphic materials from selected cities in Shandong Province using the visual sampling method, which allowed obtaining real visual information about the city. The manual colour extraction method is used to extract the dominant colour in the selected image material from a colour recognition website, record its HEX CODE and name it. Finally, the ‘The main theme’ colours of 10 cities in Shandong Province were extracted using colour analysis. Based on their art historical analysis, which includes an analysis of colour trends, cultural background, and urban development orientation, their spatial colour characteristics and visual images were highlighted to form a system of colour representation with narrativity and locality. Results. The study of urban colour characteristics based on regional aspects demonstrates the diversity of urban colours in Shandong Province and explains the importance of colour in urban development. The colour types of cities in Shandong Province are classified and four categories of urban colour system are distinguished: Coastal freshness, Ecologically wilderness type, Cultural warmth type and Comprehensive type. Each type also presents colour structure and visual characteristics that are closely related to the natural geography and cultural background of the local urban area. The results of the study indicate that regional environment and urban characteristics are inextricably linked in the urban colour system. Scientific novelty. Based on regional aspects, the study proposes for the first time a method for classifying the visual image of urban colours based on geographical environment, history and humanities, and urban functions. Compared with previous studies focusing on the colour of individual urban regions, considerable attention is paid to the visual correlation between the colour structure and the overall unity of urban space, which highlights the aesthetic value and systematic role of the urban colour system. Practical relevance. The research results provide a clear classification basis and methodological support for the design of urban visual image and related urban colour research. The proposed classification of urban colour systems can provide designers with effective design guidelines for their visual practice in different cities. In addition, the research contributes to the formation of a more holistic visual space of the city, the enhancement of public identity, and the enhancement of regional content communication to create a more accurate and vivid image of the city.
