SOCIAL NETWORKS AS A COMMUNICATION ENVIRONMENT FOR YOUNG PEOPLE: INFORMATION THREATS AND EUROPEAN APPROACHES
(2026-01) Mialkovska, Liudmyla; Zabiiaka, Iryna; Pylypiuk, Larysa; Litkovych, Yuliia; Dolozhevska, Liudmyla
The aim of the study is to identify linguistic tools for creating information risks in the interpersonal interaction of young people in the field of social networks and to find ways to develop adjusted countermeasures based on the European experience in the field of media literacy. The study was characterized by an interdisciplinary strategy that combined typological analysis of linguistic phenomena, mechanistic representation of cognitive processes, and comparative analysis of European media education practices. The research is based on the synthesis of forty-six scientific publications, archives of fact-checking organizations, and official documents of the European Commission. Еhe three most serious risk profiles among young people were identified: emotional and psychological, cognitive and cultural, and digital and legal. It was found that the combination of emojis with youth slang constitutes the highest risk index, reaching a value of 0.92 conventional units. By increasing the level of intra-sentence code-switching by 34 percent, young people tend to believe highly questionable sources more than neutral messages. TikTok video memes proved to be the most effective in spreading disinformation among young people, reaching a score of 8.1 conventional units due to a combination of 96% spread rate and only 28% critical reflection on the content. Adolescents aged 13-16, who have an emotionally impulsive personality type and low digital literacy, demonstrate a total risk of 7.8 conventional units and are the most vulnerable group.ь The effectiveness of such an adaptation as the model of European media literacy strategies implemented in Ukraine has the potential to be 69.8-85.1% of international standards. The results of the study are used to formulate a theoretical framework focused on the development of individual educational activities aimed at combating disinformation, which would take into account the communicative behavior of adolescents in the bilingual sphere of the Ukrainian population. © (2026), (Little Lion Scientific). Psycholinguistic aspects of representing aggression in wartime media discourse
    (2022-12-26) Kovalchuk, Liudmyla; Litkovych, Yuliia
The article focuses on aggression caused by the Russian-Ukrainian war as a vivid phenomenon in media discourse. The paper reveals the psychological aspects of this phenomenon, the reasons for the use of verbal aggression, its forms, and its impact on recipients. The research also explores lexical and stylistic means of representing aggression in the Ukrainian media discourse: online publications in periodicals and posts on social media such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. It has been identified that the frequently used invective vocabulary and creolized memes in the media are specific verbal and nonverbal means of psychological liberation from aggression and destructive influence on the target audience. Based on the results of a survey involving 100 respondents from different regions of Ukraine, 50 of whom were male and 50 female, it was found that aggression serves to expose such dominant negative emotions evoked by the Russian-Ukrainian war as anger and hatred. However, the object of aggression of the people surveyed is strikingly different: for 58 % of men it’s the Russian president, while for 52 % of women – the Russian troops. When asked about the most common forms of aggression, the majority of the respondents claimed that it is expressed by mockery, curses and obscenity. The survey documented the use of the corresponding war-related emotionally charged vocabulary, including neologisms with various word-building patterns and newly formed set phrases, by both females and males to express their aggression verbally. Additionally, the participants of the survey confirmed that creolized memes are effective functional tools with nearly equally distributed percentage of protesting against the war, ridiculing invaders and resisting the Russian propaganda.

Cultural transfer in translation: Innovative approaches to preserving intercultural aspects of a text
(2024) Prykhodko, Viktoriia; Kulakevych, Lyudmyla; Litkovych, Yuliia; Kanonik, Nataliia; Horodniuk, Natalia
The paper analyses cultural transfer in translation. In exploring innovative approaches to preserving intercultural aspects of a text, we turn to the concept of culture. The concept of cultural stems from the diversity of phenomena and realities that it encompasses and denotes in the speech of native speakers and in the meta-language of researchers of various disciplines who use it. Without granting it the status of a unifying term, the article hypothesizes that culture is a travelling, interdisciplinary concept used in sociology, comparative law, cultural studies, translation studies, pragmatic linguistics, and interlanguage communication as a unit for the cultural transfer of concepts. The paper defines the concept of culturama, drawing on research from other fields, and considers its characteristics as a minimal, autonomous unit responsible for cultural transfer in translation, carrying cultural information and being a "resistance" for intercultural translation, which is not equivalent to interlingual transfer. A minimal unity of meaning, not necessarily reduced to monolingualism, cultural also develops related shades, a number of significant nuances that are still poorly understood. The results of the study show their dependence on the sociocultural context, on a specific situation of communication. We classify cultures into historical, cultural, and literary ones, and divide them into simple and compound ones. In addition, we distinguish between fixed cultures in the lexicon, which refer to an already known situation, such as clichés, proverbs, idioms, and fixed cultures in a literary work, which are sometimes allusively derived from the previous category. Being on the borderline between quotation and allusion, the latter type of cultural signs either avoids identification -implicitly, communication through translation does not take place -or is deliberately distorted by the translator himself in order to achieve the expected evocative effect in translation or is inadequately "preserved".

Educational Approaches to Cultivating Environmental Consciousness among Higher Education Students in Ukraine
(Grassroots Institute, 2024-12) Kyseliuk, Nataliia; Martyniuk, Alla; Hubina, Alla; Alyieva, Alvina; Litkovych, Yuliia; Tryndiuk, Vflentyna
In the face of escalating environmental challenges such as climate change, resource depletion, and biodiversity loss, higher education institutions (HEIs) play a critical role in fostering environmental consciousness among future professionals. The research aims to analyze current pedagogical strategies, examine innovative development and digitalization factors, and explore how higher education can promote sustainable environmental consciousness among graduates. A combination of complementary methods, including analysis, synthesis and abstraction were used. The essential structural elements of the system of ecological consciousness, as well as the criteria and indicators of its formation, are also defined. Results revealed that the main prerequisites for low environmental awareness among students of higher education institutions in Ukraine are the insufficient development of civil society institutions, lack of motivation to comply with environmental legislation, and an inadequate level of public awareness of sustainable development and environmental stewardship priorities. Environmental education in higher education is often delivered in a traditionally minimalist format, with a narrow sectorial focus that fails to adequately foster environmental awareness development among future professionals. An innovative vision of the pedagogical strategy for forming environmental awareness of students of higher education institutions through fundamental life values, attitudes towards the intrinsic value of nature, and society's responsibility for their conservation and sustainable development is proposed.
