Item type:Наукова стаття, Assessment of Socio-Economic Transformations in The Border Regions of Ukraine and Poland(2025) Miszczuk, Andrzej; Shubalyi, Oleksandr; Gordiichuk, Antonina; Gordiichuk, Iryna; Kosinskyi, Petro; Shubala, IrynaThe purpose of this article is to examine the socio-economic transformations of the border regions of Ukraine and Poland in the context of European integration processes, labor migration, and the impact of the war in Ukraine, as well as to assess the effectiveness of cross-border cooperation and the use of EU financial instruments for regional development. The study analyzes the characteristics of these transformations, shaped by the interplay of economic policy, European integration, and migration trends. It shows that these regions act as important hubs of economic and social interaction, reflecting differences in institutional capacity, labor markets, and investment potential. The research demonstrates that Poland’s EU membership has ensured access to substantial financial resources, which have positively influenced the development of its border voivodeships. In contrast, Ukrainian regions remain in a phase of economic convergence and have limited access to similar support mechanisms. Labor migration is identified as a major factor driving transformation, affecting demographics, employment, and social dynamics. The analysis confirms that Poland remains the primary destination for Ukrainian labor migration, generating both op-opportunities for economic growth and challenges related to workforce imbalances and adaptation in the labor market. Moreover, the war in Ukraine has intensified these processes, putting additional pressure on Poland’s social systems and labor market. The study emphasizes that cross-border cooperation is a key tool for the development of border regions; however, its implementation is uneven due to administrative barriers and differences in strategic priorities between the countries. Despite the expansion of Ukrainian regions’ participation in European programs, their ability to attract funding remains limited compared to their Polish counterparts. The research substantiates the need to develop effective regional development strategies aimed at reducing economic asymmetry and ensuring sustainable development within the framework of Ukraine’s European integration. © Andrzej Miszczuk et al.Item type:Монографія, Formation of a Policy of Economic Stimulation of the ‘‘Green’’ Transformation of the Polish-Ukrainian Borderland(Lublin, 2025) Kosinskyi, PetroThis monograph was written by a team of Polish and Ukrainian scientists within the framework of the international project Eurizon ID 829: “Structural transformation of the economy of the Polish-Ukrainian borderlands as a response to common challenges of security, green, digital and intellectual transition”, funded by the European Union program HORIZONT 2020 (grant agreement no. 871072), and is an attempt to identify current problems of development of the Polish-Ukrainian borderland regions from a scientific perspective and to propose ways to solve them in this context. The monograph is divided into three parts according to the logic of presenting the results of scientific research. The first part “Determinants of transformation of the Polish-Ukrainian borderland” contains chapters devoted to various factors of development of the PolishUkrainian borderland: environmental (W. Kalamucka, P. Telish), сeopolitical (W. Baluk), socio-demographic (A. Jakubowski), systemic-economic (P. Kozarzewski), international economic (P. Pasierbiak), institutional-organizational (M. Miszczuk, A. Miszczuk), infrastructural (P.Witkowski), social (I. Shubala, I. Gordiichuk), digital (O. Khilukha), local (M. Khvesyk, M. Ilyina, Y. Shpyliova). The second part of “Transformation of the Polish-Ukrainian borderland” contains chapters with research results related to the dimensions of regional and cross-border “green” transformation (J. Szafran), climate change and competitiveness (A. Karman, J. Banas, U. Bronisz, A. Miszczuk), human capital development and labor market (P. Maleszyk), intellectual transformation (A. Gordiichuk), directions of digital transformation (U. Bronish), digitization of business environment (M. Dziamulych), “green” transformation of coal areas (I. Storonianska, K. Patytska, A. Dub, L. Benovska), logistics infrastructure planning (I. Vakhovich, Y. Pohulyayko), intellectual property system, scientific and innovative activities (N. Rud, V. Khomytskyi), stimulation of “green” transformation (P. Kosinskyi), placement of modern businesses (P. Miszczuk) of the Polish-Ukrainian border regions. The third part “Competitiveness and Resilience of the Polish-Ukrainian borderland” contains chapters that examine the competitiveness and sustainable development of border regions against the background of EU regions (U. Bronisz, A. Jakubowski), common security challenges and measures to increase the resilience of the Polish-Ukrainian borderland economy (M. Khvesyk, G. Obikhod), the directions of development in the light of strategic documents of the Lubelskie (B. Kawalko) and Podkarpackie (P. Wais, A. Kielbasa) voivodeships, Ukrainian border regions (O. Shubalyi), as well as the conceptual assumptions of the new strategy for the development of the Polish-Ukrainian cross-border borderland as a tool for the integration of Ukraine into the EU (A. Miszczuk, O. Shubalyi). The authors of the monograph hope that through their own conclusions and proposals they will draw additional attention of EU institutions, authorities, business, local community and scientists to the problems and prospects of development of the Polish-Ukrainian borderland in order to use all advantages and opportunities, overcome all threats and weaknesses on the common path of cross-border cooperation with maximum benefit for Poland and Ukraine.Item type:Наукова стаття, Assessment of economic activity of the rural population by age and gender groups: a case study of Ukraine(Scientific Papers, 2021) Shubalyi, Oleksandr; Rud, Nadiia; Gordiichuk, Antonina; Kosinskyi, PetroIn the article we proved that the transformations taking place in the labour market lead to radical changes in the economic activity and inactivity of the rural population, which requires additional analysis and finding ways to address existing disparities. In the research we grouped the regions of Ukraine by the level of economic activity of the rural population in 2019 at the age of 15-70 years and in working age, the results of which are presented in the form of cartograms The results of the analysis revealed that the level of education has a stronger positive impact on the level of economic activity of women. This means that education is more important for women in terms of improving their position in the labor market. The article has proven that currently, the level of economic activity of the rural population and the rural labour market in Ukraine remain underdeveloped, need constant change and adaptation to world standards. In modern conditions, the main factors influencing the processes taking place in the rural labour market are: structural adjustment of the economy, in particular the predominant development of agriculture; accelerated economic growth; building the potential of entrepreneurship; scientific and technological progress, digitalization of society; state regulation of labour potential development, labour market, and employment.Item type:Наукова стаття, Modeling the productivity management process in agriculture: a case study of Ukraine(2026) Dziamulych, Mykola; Grytsyna, Oksana; Korobchuk, Tetiana; Hariaha, Lesia; Chyzh, Nataliia; Sholudko, Olsana; Kosinskyi, Petro; ;The purpose of the study is to form an economic and statistical toolkit for quantitative analysis of the impact of determining factors on the level of labor productivity in the agricultural sector of Ukraine. as well as to substantiate directions for improving the effectiveness of managerial decision-making based on correlation and regression analysis. The study examines factors of labour productivity management in the agrarian sector of Ukraine using a correlation–regression approach and forecasting modelling. It is substantiated that the dynamics of output per employee are shaped by the combined influence of interrelated financial, economic, and production factors, among which the availability of fixed assets, financial performance, and parameters of labour resource utilisation play a decisive role. The empirical basis of the research comprises official statistical data for the period 2010–2024. The study applies methods of correlation and multivariate regression analysis to quantitatively assess the impact of fixed assets, capital investment, net profit, and average monthly wages on the level of labour productivity. It is established that the most significant positive effect on output is exerted by the volume of fixed assets and net profit, which confirms their determining role in enhancing the efficiency of labour utilisation in the agricultural sector. Based on the estimated model, a forecast of labour productivity up to 2030 is developed, indicating the preservation of an upward growth trajectory of output under an inertial development scenario.
