Історичний вимір демократії

Abstract

Стаття присвячена дослідженнюпитання про демократію,демократичне суспільство, яке є основоположним в теорії демократії. Авторами статті розглянуто демократію в історичному вимірі:у працях Арістотеля, Алексіса де Токвіля та її ролі сьогодні, передусім, удіяльності інституцій, які покликані захищатисвободи громадян. Зазначено, що в сучасних умовах пізнавальний елемент знань про демократіюотримують у навчальних закладах, які покликані закласти її концепти і правові також. Навчання культурі демократії, її цінностям відбувається протягом життя, адже інколи ми живемо в суспільстві подвійних стандартів.Демократія –це жива система, яка постійно стикається з новими викликами. Якими вони єв сучасному світі? Це: дезінформація у медіа та соціальних мережах, яка спотворює реальність;зловживання владою, щознецінює демократичні цінності, підриває довіру до демократичних інститутів;обмеження свобод громадян. Тому активність громадян,громадських,неурядових організацій є тією рушійною силою демократичних змін, яка реагує на загрози та формує майбутнє демократії.

The article is devoted to the study of the issue of democracy and democratic society, which is fundamental in the theory of democracy. The authors examine democracy in its historical dimension: in the works of Aristotle and Alexis de Tocqueville, as well as its role today, primarily in the activities of institutions designed to protect citizens’ freedoms. It is noted that under contemporary conditions, the cognitive component of knowledge about democracy is acquired in educational institutions, which are called upon to lay its conceptual and legal foundations. Education in the culture of democracyand its values continues throughout life, as we sometimes live in a society of double standards. Democracy is a living system that constantly faces new challenges. What are these challenges in the modern world? They include disinformation in the media andsocial networks that distorts reality; abuse of power, which devalues democratic values and undermines trust in democratic institutions; and restrictions on citizens’ freedoms. Therefore, the activity of citizens, public and non-governmental organizationsis the driving force of democratic change that responds to threats and shapes the future of democracy. Critical thinking and fact-checking remain important, as they help, in our opinion, to counter various challenges.
