dc.description.abstractThis article is devoted to optimizing the ethanol production process, particularly the preparation of the mash mixture, with the aim of improving the production of ethanol and fuel ethanol. A robust linear–quadratic controller has been developed to provide optimal robust feedback control of the mash preparation process while ensuring the minimization of a quadratic performance criterion. The controller is based on measurements of the raw material flow rate and mash concentration, as well as on maintaining the desired stable mixture level and concentration by adjusting the mixture flow rates. By regulating these flow rates, the controller maintains a constant mixture concentration and stabilizes the process flows, resulting in a more stable system, smoother operating conditions, and reduced energy consumption. In addition, it improves the quality of the mash mixture and enables the production of a high-quality final product—ethanol.
